The mission of this body shall be
to establish and maintain a community of believers where all may experience the
love and presence of God through praise and worship and the teaching and
preaching of God’s Word; where Jesus is at the center of everything we do; where
believers can find fellowship and discipleship, and the world can find hope and
reconciliation with God as Jesus builds His Church!
River of Life Church will
accomplish its purpose by allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us as we evangelize Aiken, the CSRA, and the world. Partnering with the Body of Christ in this region to bring Glory to the Father through the Name and Person of Jesus Christ! We will be passionate in our worship, faithful in our teaching, powerful in our witness, holy in our lifestyle as we draw closer to the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God!
Statement of Faith
The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. These Tenets of Faith are intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing, 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 2:42). No claim is made that these tenets contain all biblical truth, only that they cover our need as to these fundamental doctrines.
- We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal.
- We believe the Holy Bible alone is the authoritative Word of God and is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, it is inspired, infallible, and inerrant, thus reliable for reproving, correcting, and instructing us for all areas of life.
- We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity. On earth, Jesus was fully God and fully man, revealing the Father. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for the saints, and will return again in power and glory.
- We believe man was created in the image of God to know Him and enjoy Him, but rejected God’s rule, and fell. Because of this rejection, sickness, death, and judgment entered the world. Man’s only hope of redemption is in the belief of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
- We believe we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ: His death, burial, and resurrection. We believe salvation is a free gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts. For one to be saved and restored to fellowship with God, one must repent and confess with his mouth and believe in his heart Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
- We believe through salvation, the Holy Spirit regenerates, convicts, justifies, sanctifies, and adopts us into the Kingdom of God as sons and daughters. It is through the Holy Spirit that the Christian is enabled to live a holy life, and to be empowered to be witnesses to expand God’s kingdom.
- We believe every believer should expect and seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit which is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel. We believe all the spiritual gifts that were given to the church in Acts are still alive today in believers.
- We believe the church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of Jesus’ great commission. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the church as a member of the body of believers. There is a spiritual unity of all believers in Jesus Christ.
- We believe in the sacraments of water baptism in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and of communion, which is taken in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
- We believe in the healing of the sick as illustrated in the life and ministry of Jesus. Healing is included in the commission of Jesus to His disciples. It’s also a part of Jesus’ finished work on the cross and is one of the gifts of the Spirit.
- We believe Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth to rule and reign.
- We believe in the resurrection of the dead. That heaven and hell are real places. Heaven being the eternal dwelling place for all believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and hell being the eternal dwelling place for the lost where they will be eternally tormented along with Satan and the fallen angels.
- We believe God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that marriage is a sacred institution that solely consists of the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union as defined in scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. Any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Gen 1:26-27; Gen 2:18-25, 1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4)
- We believe all humans are created in God’s image and that human life is sacred from the moment of conception and should be protected and nurtured by all believers. (Psalm 139:13-16, Jer 1:5)
